Use of Lashing gear boxes for container ship cargo securing devices




Container ship gear box

Vessel shall account for all lashing gear box containers including bins prior departure from every port. These gear box containers must be stowed in their designated stowage positions or in other safe/protected locations on board the vessel.

Stowing these lashing gear box containers on higher tiers on deck or at outboard positions must be avoided as far as possible.



Lashing gear box containers must be periodically checked and maintained in a safe and serviceable condition. Inspection and certification by recognized shore authority / agency is required for these lashing gear box containers after 5 years initially and at least once every 30 months thereafter. The certificate of inspection for each container shall be kepi in safe custody of the Master.
